The forests of Lake of the Woods are filled with wild game just waiting for AGLOW! With archery season opening as early as the middle of September you'll have the change to bag yourself a trophy. Black bear season will also be open during your visit to Lake of the Woods; with 85% of Lake of the Woods County public land there are plenty of hunting opportunities. Grouse season will also be open, so the hunting and story possibilities are endless.

S & M Sporting Clays will be your host for shooting day, the facility is a 15 minute ride from Sportsman's Lodge and transportation will be provided. S & M Sporting Clays is a regulation 5-stand format laid out with LaPorte automatic traps offering a variety of angles and target presentations, from rising teasing teals to crossing battues, the forever aggravating right & left hand crossers, straight-aways and our famous "ballistic" rabbits! Fastest runners you will ever encounter. Our LaPorte rabbit machine is bar-none the best around. This machine throws an awesome ballistic rabbit that will challenge the best of shooters. We guarantee to challenge your shooting skills, but above all else, we promise you a great time. The grounds at S & M Sporting Clays are the perfect spot for corporate members to set up and show off the latest technology in the industry.

Your host for the 2008 AGLOW Conference will be Sportsman's Lodge, located on the Rainy River minutes from the lake. Sportsman's is a full service fishing resort offering comfortable accommodations, dining, conference facilities, catering services, and live entertainment in the lounge. Their indoor pool, hot tub, and game room are sure to help you relax after a hard day of fishing. The lodge offers 30 guest rooms, most are hotel style rooms with 2 double beds, two suites with king size beds are also available. The grounds of Sportsman's include 22 cabins that vary in size from 1 to 4 bedrooms; all cabins are within easy walking distance of the main lodge. But what Sportsman's Lodge is really known for is fishing; their fleet of charter launches and expert guides will give you the true Lake of the Woods experience. Gregg and his staff are very excited to be hosting AGLOW in 2008, and look forward to seeing all of you at Lake of the Woods.

The fall walleye run is in full swing as huge schools of fish follow the shiners into the Rainy River. Sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River is truly an experience of a lifetime, come on up and fight with one of these prehistoric monsters. Ice fishing on Lake of the Woods is second to none. Our resorts would like to extend an invitation to all AGLOW members to experience the excitement of not only ice fishing but also the experience of sleeping on the ice in one of our sleeper houses. We offer hundreds of miles of groomed snowmobile trails, the Big Traverse Trails connects the south shore of Lake of the Woods with the Northwest Angle and Islands. The Northwest Angle is home to excellent walleye, muskie, and northern pike fishing. Several year around resorts at the angle will be happy to accommodate all your needs.
